2017 Pinetree Classic Race Information

About the Pinetree Classic

The 2017 Pinetree Classic in Mundy Park Coquitlam will take place on Saturday 16th September 2017. There are four separate races of various distances (2.5km, 4.4km, 6.2km and 8.1km) with categories spanning the whole age spectrum from “Junior Development” to 70+. The Pinetree Classic is Race #1 of the “Lower Mainland Series” and is sanctioned by B.C. Athletics/B.C. Cross Country Division.

All the races will take place along the beautiful undulating trails of Mundy Park, with running surfaces of mulch, gravel and grass (suitable for spikes). A detailed map of the running course can be found below:

Pinetree

The distance variations are as shown below:

2.5km: One loop of the field, one loop of the trail.

4.4km: One loop of the field, two loops of the trail.

6.2km: One loop of the field, three loops of the trail.

8.1km: One loop of the field, four loops of the trail.

IMPORTANT: Individual race entrants should use this Eventbrite form to register. Teams and individual team members should use the team entry form which is downloadable from the website.

Junior, Open and masters men and women will run together in the first race. Younger athletes will be separated into three additional races, from youngest to oldest.

Note: The course and start/finish area have changed back to the “old” course.

Note About Age Categories

All athletes must compete in their correct age categories if they wish to be counted in the Cross Country Series in their age category. Age-graded results will be provided for the Men’s and Women’s Open and Masters races.

Results will be available online on the club website after the race.

Awards

  • Junior Development (2002–2008): Ribbons for placing 1st to 6th in each year of the age group (M & F).
  • Juvenile (2000–2001), Junior (1998–1999), Open (20–29, 30–39,): Ribbons for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each category (M & F).
  • Masters (40 to 70+): Ribbons for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd in five-year age categories (M & F).

Number pick-up is on race day beginning at 8:30 a.m., at the Registration area near the Lacrosse Box. Park at the gravel parking lot or the Spani Pool parking lots off Hillcrest St. on the west side of Mundy Park. Please plan to arrive at least one hour before your race.

Other Notes

Results for the B.C. Athletics Series Awards will be sent to B.C. Athletics, and ages will be calculated as of 02/17/12 for Masters and 31/12/17 for everyone else.

Younger runners under 20 who compete in the open race will be eligible for awards in that category but will not earn series points in their own age division.

All athletes must compete in their correct age categories if they wish to be counted in the Cross Country Series in their age category.

Entry Forms

Pinetree Team RegSchools and Clubs should use the team entry form (right) and email completed entries to Cathy Reis ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ). If your school has a group BCA competitive membership add that number to the top section of the form and this will be copied over to the individuals. Otherwise enter the appropriate BCA numbers on an individual basis. Fees are calculated automatically based on age and BCA membership status. Cheque payments for school and club teams should be brought to the event for day of race processing, and by made payable to Phoenix Athletics. Please write the name of your school/team on the back of the cheque.

 

Registration for individuals should be done via the Eventbrite (see below). Please select the appropriate ticket type (the choices are 19 or younger or 20 and older, with discounts for those individuals who have BC Athletics competitive memberships). Once you have selected your ticket and clicked "Register" you will be taken to the Eventbrite site and prompted to enter your personal details and payment information. You will be sent an e-ticket after registration, which you should print out and bring to the event.

If you do not want to register online you can fill in the paper entry form and mail with a cheque to N.Tinari, #805-660 Nootka Way, Port Moody, BC, V3H0B7. Cheques should be made payable to Phoenix Athletics. Note that late entrants (day of race registration only) will be penalized with a $5 late fee.
